Botox - treatment
One of the most important factor
of the face ageing is the mimic muscles functioning
effect for the facial skin and under the skin
structures. The Botulinum toxin (Botox Vistabel)
temporarily prevents those mimic muscles functions
on the face and the neck, where it is going to
be injected, thus makes it vanish possibly the
non-desired mimic wrinkles. Further, for certain
face structure positioning to look younger (eye
lid or mouth corner lifting). The hindering of
the muscle function is only transitional, though
the effect of Botox is ceased in 4 - 6 months
time.
The preventive protein is injected
into the desired muscles via a thin needle, the
shot is almost pain free. During the treatment
per region 1 - 8 needlings are made, except the
neck, where this can be up to 20. The effect of
the injection shot begins in the 2nd - 4th day,
but the full effect will assume at the end of
the second week and will last for the following
3 - 6 months. Even with one treatment, good results
are achievable. By elapse of the treatment effect,
certain muscles (generally around the eye muscle)
other consequence will not remain, apart from
a possible minimal weakaning. Following, to reach
the required outcome, repeated treatments would
be necessary. Reaching of steady results, 2 -
3 treatments will be required annually. The treatment
itself lasts for 10 - 15 minutes.
Most patients, apart from slight
swellings and injection related inconveniences,
had no complaints. Right after the shot the treatment
is almost traceless. Side effects are rare. Mainly
around the eye and under the skin, at small scale
haemorrhage can occur rarely; which results are
blue stains. However, it is absorbed in a few
days. To people, who are suffering of blood coagulation
disorder or taking blood-coagulating medicine,
the botox treatment is not advised. Other medicines,
like primarily aspirin and other non-steroid inflammation
reducers also increase the bleeding susceptibility,
therefore at least a week before the botox treatment
taking these medicines should be suspended.
At certain anatomy conditions
very seldom the eye lid or the upper eye lid hanging
can develop, asymmetric face movement or at exaggeratedly
large doses treatment swallowing difficulty; or
the mouth muscles become heavy, speech difficulties,
probably liquid holding back disturbances. Following
the treatment sometimes other, earlier existing
wrinkles can become contour. During the fortnightly
control if needed, these can be treated and with
minimal quantity botulinum intake, will disappear.
The possible side effects are exclusively transitional
and last for a few months maximum, and afterwards
disappear by themselves.
It is not recommended
- to have done a Botox treatment more often
than 4 months,
- to take in certain medicines simultaneously
with Botox (aminoglicosid, antibioticums or
calcium channel blocking medicines),
- to have done a Botox treatment while pregnancy
or nursing,
- to have done a Botox treatment by muscle weakness,
pairing with neurological illness (myasthenia
gravis)
- to have done a Botox treatment in case of
human albumin sensitivity.
By the first treatment the surgeon
begins with a relative smaller doses and by the
two weekly control, if it is necessary, the first
treatment can be amended by an additional small
quantity of Botox. Later, when the patient is
acquainted with the Botox effect, generally there
is no need for auxiliary treatment.
Messaging and pressing the treated
area following the treatment is prohibited. With
a treatment around the eye it is suggested, that
the patient should not be in laying position for
3 - 4 hours, or following the treatment the active
muscle movements faster the infiltration of the
toxin into the muscle and reduce the possibility
of side - effects.
The treatment has neither low
nor upper age limit, in this, individually the
doctor has to consider.
The reason of the Botox treatment is the improvement
and not to reach a perfect result. This means
non - wrinkling and not filling up the wrinkle.
The Botox treatment does not help on condition
of the static wrinkles, or with ageing related
other non - muscle functioned alterations. On
demand, for these alterations, other treatments
are applied (injection wrinkle filling, IPL treatment,
laser treatment) in combination with the Botox
treatment.
